====== The Credenza Net Project ====== We recently purchased a credenza for the dining room. It is a nice piece of furniture well suited for the items we want to store in it, however the top of it is black, solid black. So I wanted to make something to cover it. I had never done a project this large out of small hole netting. I did a few sample pieces to figure out what I would try. note: Clicking on any of the pictures will give you the much larger and more detailed original. Depending on your screen size you may be given the option to zoom in. ==== testing ==== |{{:small_hole:testing-a.jpg?direct&400 |Trying rose netting and some gathers}}| |I tested Grecian netting alternating with Bunch netting.| |{{ :small_hole:testing-c.jpg?direct&400|A larger test piece}}| |Then I tried Honeycomb netting.| . |{{ :small_hole:testing-b.jpg?direct&400 |Once I figured out what I wanted to do}}| |And some Bunch alternating with plain netting| ==== The Actual Net ==== The Plan: Start with Bunch alternating with a few rows of plain netting. Then add Honycomb, so the bulk of it is Bunch, plain, Honycomb, plain and back to Bunch. End with Bunch, plain, Bunch, plain a few times. |{{ :small_hole:pxl_20250228_011634148.portrait_2.jpg?direct&400 |}}| |Starting the actual net, February 2025| |{{ :small_hole:pxl_20250905_001834106.jpg?direct&400 |}}| |I put it down for most of the summer to make room for other evening projects I needed to get done. Picked it up again in September.| |{{ :small_hole:pxl_20251219_182602093.jpg?direct&400 |}}| |By December it was almost finished. ((Working on it in the back seat of the car while waiting in a parking lot.))| |{{ :small_hole:finished.jpg?direct&1000 |}}| | And it was completed mid January 2026.| Unfortunately, over the time since we purchased the credenza it has gathered some objects on top. Once they are filed, I will post a picture of the net in its correct location.
